About Eric Kleiner

Eric Kleiner is a dedicated community leader and philanthropist whose efforts have touched countless lives through local programs, youth initiatives, and charitable events. Deeply involved in causes that promote education, health, and inclusivity, Eric has become a driving force in organizations such as Tenafly Youth Basketball, the Kaplen Jewish Community Center in the Palisades, and the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.

Champion of Charity Golf

One of Eric’s most impactful contributions has been his long-standing involvement in charity golf. For six years, he co-chaired the Play Fore the Kids Golf Classic, helping raise more than $2 million to benefit children with special needs and autism. The tournament became more than a fundraiser—it created a space for families, local businesses, and community leaders to unite for a cause that truly changes lives.

Eric’s leadership extended beyond planning logistics. By blending his love of golf with his passion for helping others, he helped build an event that inspires generosity, strengthens community ties, and provides meaningful support to children and families.

Leadership in Youth Basketball

Eric has also made a lasting mark on youth sports in Tenafly, New Jersey. As president of Tenafly Youth Basketball, he oversaw the program’s growth to more than 500 participants. His leadership ensured the league remained where children learn the game and gain essential life lessons in teamwork, resilience, and responsibility.

Among the initiatives he championed, Eric is most proud of the Challenger Program, which allows children with special needs to experience organized basketball. Through this program, Eric has helped create an environment where every child, regardless of ability, can enjoy the confidence and life skills of being part of a team.

Expanding His Philanthropic Reach

Beyond sports, Eric is actively engaged in charitable work that strengthens communities and provides vital support. His collaboration with the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades has helped expand programs for children, families, and seniors, ensuring access to essential services for those who might otherwise go without.

He has also contributed significantly to the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, supporting initiatives that deliver resources and services to local communities. Eric has consistently worked to strengthen connections within the region by organizing and participating in fundraising events.

Eric’s passion for advancing medical research led to his involvement with the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation. From poker tournaments to advocacy efforts, he has supported the fight against diabetes and remains committed to helping find a cure for a disease that affects many.

His past contributions to the Windward School in White Plains, New York, further reflect his commitment to education. By supporting programs for children with learning differences, Eric has helped ensure that students of all abilities have access to the tools and resources they need to thrive.

Personal Passions and Family Values

While Eric’s philanthropic efforts are extensive, he also finds joy in personal passions. A devoted fan of live music, he enjoys attending big and small concerts, valuing the connections, emotions, and lasting memories that music creates.

At the heart of Eric’s life is his family. He credits his wife and children as his most significant source of strength and inspiration. The values his late mother and sister instilled in him—service, compassion, and integrity—continue to guide his work and personal life.

Through his leadership, generosity, and devotion to others, Eric Kleiner has built a legacy of service that reflects his love for community and his vision for a better future.
